Goals, Objectives & Outcomes

1. PROGRAM GOAL and OBJECTIVES

To prepare graduates that are competent entry level registered dietitian nutritionists in the core and concentration competency area of disease management/health promotion.                                      

       Objectives:

  • At least 80% of program interns complete program requirements within 15 months (150% of the program length)
  • Of graduates who seek employment, 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation
  • 88% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing examination for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion
  • The programs one year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80% 
  • At 12 months post program completion, 80% of surveyed employed graduate respondents will be working in the area of disease management/health promotion
  • At completion of program, 100% of interns will achieve an overall score >=80% in disease management/health promotion concentration rotation
  • At completion of program, 100% of interns will have achieved an overall summative score >=80% from core and concentration rotations combined
  • At completion of program, 80% of interns will be "satisfied" with core and concentration areas of practice provided through Vanderbilt's dietetic internship program

2. PROGRAM GOAL and OBJECTIVES                                               

To provide a supply of competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists to influence the supply  and distribution of dietitians for Vanderbilt Medical Center and the nation.

       Objectives:

  • 18 months post program completion, no more than 50% of program graduates will be employed at VUMC
  • 18 months post program completion, 80% of surveyed employer respondents outside of VUMC will be "satisfied" with Vanderbilt internship graduates as entry level practitioners 
  • 18 months post program completion, 80% of surveyed program graduate respondents employed outside of VUMC will be " satisfied" with preparation for entry level practice provided by the VUMC DI program
  • 18 months post program completion, 80% of surveyed employer respondents employed at VUMC will be "satisfied" with Vanderbilt internship graduates as entry level practitioners
  • 18 months post program completion, 80% of surveyed program graduate respondents employed at VUMC will be "satisfied" with preparation for entry level practice provided by the VUMC DI program
  • 18 months post program completion, 75% of surveyed employer respondents will respond "yes" when asked if they would hire another VUMC internship program graduate
