Dr. Shelby Meier is a postdoctoral fellow at the Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimer’s Center under the mentorship of Dr. Angela Jefferson. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and her doctorate in physiology from the University of Kentucky. Her doctoral research focused on pathological changes to the protein tau as both a cause, and a consequence, of cellular dysfunction.
Dr. Meier’s research interests lie in identifying contributing factors to pathology development in neurodegenerative diseases associated with memory loss. While her past research utilized only basic science practices, her current work focuses on clinically observable data and changes in human disease. Her work on the Memory & Aging Project (MAP) will further guide her research interests and development of future projects.
