Rebecca Winfree, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow
Neurology

Dr. Rebecca Winfree is a Postdoctoral Fellow student under the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Hohman at the Vanderbilt Memory & Alzheimer's Center's Computational Neurogenomics Team. She earned her PhD from Vanderbilt University with her thesis titled "Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-2 (TREM2) associations with concomitant pathology in Alzheimer's disease: β-amyloid and beyond". She earned bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Psychology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Dr. Winfree’s research is focused on the role of chemokines in Alzheimer’s disease. Specifically, she is interested in how PROK1, a member of the prokineticin gene family, modifies the association between Alzheimer’s disease pathology and neurotoxicity.
