Denise Ilene Garcia, MD, MEd
Dr. Garcia joined our surgical faculty as Assistant Professor of Surgery after completing the Surgical Oncology Breast Fellowship at Massachusetts General Brigham in Boston, in July 2025. Her clinical interests include specialties in breast cancer surgery, genetics, and benign and malignant breast diseases.

Research Information
Dr. Garcia’s research interests include precision medicine with focus on targeted immunotherapy. Some of her recent publications include: “Overcoming PD-1 Inhibitor Resistance with a Monoclonal Antibody to Secreted Frizzled-Related Protein 2 in Metastatic Osteosarcoma,” Cancers, 2021; and “The Anti-Proliferative Effects of a Frankincense Extract in a Window of Opportunity Phase a Clinical Trial for Patients with Breast Cancer,” Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, 2024.
