At Vanderbilt Eye Institute (VEI), we are committed to advancing knowledge in eye and vision health. As of 2018, VEI was 3rd in the nation in NIH funding, with over $10 million in grants. Our faculty are award-winning clinicians and scientists.

We are committed to sharing our love of discovery with the next generation. Each of our 3rd and 4th-year ophthalmology residents completes a project with a presentation and manuscript. Every Vanderbilt medical student has 3 months of dedicated research time to learn the process of rigorous scientific inquiry and to contribute to the body of medical knowledge.

This site provides an overview of current research in the department, opportunities for trainee participation, and information about our investigators.

If you have a recent or current research project, please let us know about it so we can feature it here.
