Recovery Support

The Recovery Support Services of the Nurse Wellness Program (NWP) assist nurses who are coping with addictions. This is achieved through identification, treatment, advocacy and monitoring. When nurses suffer from addictive challenges, it not only jeopardizes their careers and their personal lives-it also poses a serious threat to patient safety.

A good assessment is essential to determining the right treatment intervention. The Work/Life Connections- EAP counselor gathers information concerning historical and present use of substances and their impact on the client's personal and professional functioning. The counselor will then make treatment recommendations based upon the data gathered. In some cases, a comprehensive assessment completed by an outside provider would be indicated. The NWP staff can help identify treatment facilities that specialize in the care of professionals. Upon successful completion of a treatment program, a comprehensive continuing care plan will be developed to help the client return to work safely.

The NWP will assist the client in the return to work process and provide assistance with ongoing workplace support.

Nurses in recovery benefit from the advocacy services offered by the Tennessee Professional Assistance Program (TN-PAP).
