I have symptoms that could be consistent with monkeypox.

What should I do if I have symptoms?

You should be evaluated by a provider if you have symptoms that could be related to monkeypox.

  • If you have been exposed to monkeypox at work (and have not already been contacted by Occupational Health) and you develop symptoms, please contact Occupational Health at 615-936-0955.
  • If you have been exposed to monkeypox in the community, please contact the TN Department of Health.
  • If you are not sure whether you need evaluation, please contact Occupational Health, your provider, or the TN Dept of Health.

If you undergo testing for monkeypox due to symptoms, you must isolate (and not present to work) until the test results are in.

Primary symptom of monkeypox is a new rash.

Per the CDC, other symptoms can include:

  • fever/chills
  • lymph node swelling
  • respiratory symptoms (such as sore throat, congestion, or cough)
  • muscle and backache
  • headache
  • excessive exhaustion

Sometimes rash is the only syptom; other symptoms can develop before or after the rash.
