Anxiety can be a way of responding to normal life events, or it can be a protective response to a threat. However, in its more extreme form, it can also interfere with daily living.
In June 2023, the Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended an annual screening for anxiety, in addition to depression and suicide risk screenings, for adults 18-64. You can take your own an Anxiety Self-Assessment if you feel you may be at risk.
Additionally, here are some ways to learn about and combat anxiety:
- Learn about the various kinds of anxiety.
- Join in one of the Health Plus Mindful Stretch Breaks.
- Watch WLC-EAP's brief Mindfulness Videos.
- Take advantage of the other online screening options available though the Health and Wellness Portal.
- If you are a VUMC faculty or staff member and are experiencing concerns with anxiety, you can call Work/Life Connections – EAP at (615) 936-1327 for a free, confidential assessment.
