Determine Administrative Rights on your Workstation

Overview

Administrative rights are required to download the new Virtual Private Network on your workstation. Instructions on determining if you have administrative rights are below. If you do not have administrative rights on your workstation, the Help Desk is available to assist you. Contact the Help Desk at 615-343-HELP/3-4357, or submit a Pegasus Ticket and indicate that you need assistance with your VPN installation.

For Windows 7

  • Go to the Start menu (in the lower left corner of your Windows desktop)
  • Select Settings, then Control Panel
  • Open User Accounts
  • Choose the Users tab.
  • If Administrator is displayed in the Group column or for your user name, it means you have administrative privileges.

For Windows 10

  • Go to the Start menu (in the lower left corner of your Windows desktop)
  • Type Control Panel in the search box
  • Click on the Control Panel desktop App
  • Choose User Accounts
  • Click on Make changes to my account user settings
  • If you have administrative rights, the word Administrator will be under your name.
