Teaching Language Science Conference

We will host the Teaching Language Science Conference on June 20, 21, and 22, 2023. The conference activities will occur online. The conference will run daily from approximately 10:00 a.m. CT to 2:00 p.m. CT for a total of 11.25 contact hours. Attendees will be able to earn up to 10 hours (aka 'professional development hours') toward ASHA CE. 

For those unable to participate synchronously, you may opt to participate asynchronously. Asynchronous access will be available through mid July.

Conference Learning Outcomes. At the end of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Plan a language science course using principles of backward design
  • Lay out learning language science competencies expected at the graduate and undergraduate levels
  • Describe the importance of language science knowledge to evidence-based clinical practice in speech-language pathology
  • Delineate an argument to include language science coursework in preprofessional education in speech-language pathology
  • Describe the value of multiple resources available for teaching language science content
  • Conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis when considering language science instruction with your program’s graduate and undergraduate curriculum
