Part of Rooted Community Health’s mission is to attend to the health and flourishing of the community. We consider environmental realities, economic viability of community farmers, and having access to healthy and sustainable food to be a central part of working toward that mission. In an effort to understand how we can best continue this work, we have developed an interview based study that seeks to understand the factors that influence people’s decisions to re-enroll in a CSA program. Other studies have shown that retention rate among CSA members can be as low as 10%, and we have designed this study to investigate if the structure of CSA programs, participant behavior, or a combination contributes to retention. This study relies on the shared experience of participating in a CSA in order to understand ways to develop programming that supports the health and flourishing of the community in an integrated way.
