Imaging Science and Medical Physics Programs

Imaging Science and Medical Physics Programs

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences oversees post-undergraduate programs in medical physics, an applied branch of physics devoted to the application of concepts and methods from physics to medical treatment and healthcare.

Graduate and post-doctorate programs in imaging science are also available through the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS)

Master of Imaging Science (MIS)

The Master of Imaging Science program offered by Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and VUIIS addresses the growing recognition of imaging science as a distinct specialty in biomedical research and clinical care.

Master of Science in Medical Physics (MSMP)

MSMP program offering disciplines in medical physics imaging and radiotherapy physics. Medical physics imaging is specific to clinical diagnostic and nuclear medicine imaging, while radiotherapy physics focuses on radiotherapy treatment planning and techniques

Professional Doctorate in Medical Physics (DMP)

Four-year DMP programs in radiotherapy and diagnostic physics, offering didactic classroom and laboratory instruction, independent study, clinical training and research opportunities.

VUIIS Graduate PhD Programs

Formal and informal education opportunities emphasizing medical imaging and research in various interest areas within imaging science

VUIIS Post-doctoral Education & Training

Post-doctoral training and research opportunities for those with broad or specific interests within imaging science
