Shailee S. Shah, MD, MS

Neurology

Dr. Shah is an Assistant Professor of Neuroimmunology and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Prior to joining the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2021, she attended Jefferson Medical College for medical school and completed her neurology residency at Northwestern. She then went on to complete back-to-back fellowships in autoimmune neurology and multiple sclerosis/neuroimmunology at the Mayo Clinic, while also completing a Master’s in Clinical and Translational Sciences during her time there. Dr. Shah’s research interests lie in the characterization of paraneoplastic and autoimmune neurological diseases and emerging therapeutics in these disorders. She is also part of the first international, multi-center clinical trial for NMDA receptor encephalitis.

Dr. Shah joined the work of the Potocsnak Center for Undiagnosed and Rare Disorders at Vanderbilt as she holds a strong interest in the multidisciplinary and detail-oriented components to defining the diagnosis. She particularly enjoys the rewarding challenge of making diagnoses and caring for complex neurological diseases. In her spare time, Dr. Shah enjoys rock climbing, throwing pottery, watching movies, and playing board games.
