Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Office of Inclusion and Health Equity (OIHE) promotes inclusion and equity for everyone receiving care from VUMC and its related clinics and hospitals. We seek to establish and maintain a welcoming, respectful environment by ensuring faculty, staff and students receive appropriate education and training.
Our curriculum of online and in-person courses is offered to VUMC employees at all levels, to better educate and equip our workforce to create and maintain an environment of respect, inclusion and opportunity for all employees, patients, their families and the community at large.
The increasingly diverse population we serve experiences increasing health disparities. Our Vanderbilt employee population also reflects this growing diversity. Inclusion is fundamental to our success in reducing these health disparities. Moreover, a workforce that is not only diverse but also inclusive is more effective at crafting innovative solutions to major healthcare challenges and executing them as a team.
