Our second designation journey efforts began when we submitted our application in October 2009. The following provides an overview of our second journey timeline:
- August 19, 2009 - First Magnet Steering Committee Meeting
- October 1, 2012 - Initial document was submitted
- September 1, 2011 - Supplemental documentation as requested by Magnet appraisers and the ANCC was submitted
- February 20 - 24, 20012 - Site visit
- April 18, 2012 - Magnet announcement phone call
Right before our second journey began, the ANCC changed the Magnet model and the evidence requirements. Just as health care and nursing changes, so does Magnet. This forced us to dig deep and showcase our absolute best - Magnet raised the bar and we met the challenge. Our initial document was 2,195 pages and 10.25 inches thick.
We took what we learned from our first journey and expanded on it to create a fun and exciting second journey involving hundreds of staff from across the Medical Center. The teams worked hard and we accomplished our common goal. Contained in this section of our Magnet website is the history of our second journey.
