This year, 16 early-career health scientists were selected as VECD Global Health Fellows for the 2018-2019 Cohort. The VECD fellowship will support these fellows as they complete 12-month intensive, hands-on research projects at affiliated international training sites. The fellowship began with orientation in July 2018 on the campus of the National Institutes of Health.
Selection criteria for VECD Fellows are based on support and engagement with a VECD institution, commitment to a career in global health and clinical research, and the relevance of the applicant’s proposal. These criteria are based on guidelines from the NIH Center for Scientific Review.
Vanderbilt-Emory-Cornell-Duke (VECD) is one of six consortia that comprise the Fogarty Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars. The purpose of this program is to provide mentored global health research training opportunities for pre- and post-doctoral candidates from the U.S. and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to become the next generation of global health researchers and leaders.
