A recent addition to interdisciplinary electives illustrates how Vanderbilt educators are working to bring future health care providers together to prepare for work in an increasingly global and multicultural world.

The Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health has launched the Global Health Nurse in Residence Program, a 12-week funded program in Kenya for Vanderbilt nurses.

Three students in the School of Nursing’s Master of Science in Nursing program and three rising fourth-year School of Medicine students have been selected as 2012 Frist Global Health Leaders. The program, established by Hope Through Healing Hands, provides young health professional students, residents, and fellows the opportunity to serve and train abroad in underserved communities for up to one semester.

Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D. received the Project HOPE Global Health Leadership Award that recognized her leadership and impact in global health. Congratulations!
