  • Troy E. Young

    Core Finance

    Troy Young is a member of our Core Finance division.  He was nominated by his supervisor Sheila Thomas.  She noted Troy freely takes the time to spend with anyone who has a question or problem.  He performs tasks not FOR recognition but WORTHY of recognition.  He possess qualities VUMC needs today and for the future:  honesty, integrity, optimism and creativity.

  • April Reed

    Revenue Cycle

    April is a member of the Revenue Cycle Division.  She was nominated by her colleague, Leslie Bradshaw.  April is known amongst her co-workers to consistently reach-out to assist others with their workload.  She collaboratively seeks out solutions as issues arise, sometimes before they arise, even if the issue may not relate to a specific patient account assigned to her.  As a preceptor, she welcomes new hires in a manner that is encouraging, inspiring and never makes one feel “less than” while acclimating them to their new role.

  • David Collett

    Core Finance

    David is a member of the Core Finance Division.  He was nominated by his supervisor Diane Gilbert. When it comes to anything budget related, David is the one to go to for innovative ideas.  Innovation is not useful without understanding, and David is well-known for his detailed “instructions” tab that are included on all his Excel files providing clear direction on his latest solution.  David is admired for stepping out of his comfort zone finding ways to do things more efficiently using technology.  He took it upon himself to learn SQL programming to improve downloads which was critical with staff budgeting remotely this year.

  • Justin Griggs

    Supply Chain

    Justin Griggs, RN, is a member of the Supply Chain Division.  He was nominated by his colleague, Karen Morlan.  Justin possesses a special skill of speaking the languages of both Supply Chain and Medicine.  Faced with the impact of the tornados and COVID-19, Justin was instrumental in identifying substitute products and making critical decisions to ensure vital products were available for our caregivers and patients.  A Supply Chain leader stated, “I truly don’t know how Supply Chain would have survived the last 12 months without his guidance.”

  • Penny Sherek

    CHIM (Center for Healthcare Information Management)

    Penny Sherek is a member of the CHIM Division.  She was nominated by her supervisor, Terri Hartman.  Returning from a vacation one Sunday afternoon, Penny answered a call many might have sent directly to voicemail.  Her supervisor was calling with an urgent request.  Penny worked diligently that Sunday and late into the night Monday adding important flags to Medical Records at the request of the Information and Privacy Exec. Committee.  She beat a very tight deadline.  Penny is just as committed to her co-workers.  When a co-worker became ill, Penny found time to take on additional cases in the Privacy Office and deliver homemade meals to her co-worker.

  • Sicilly Slayton

    CHIM (Center for Healthcare Information Management)

    Sicilly is a member of the CHIM division.  She received two nominations submitted by Ros’e Gordon-Johnson and Lynn Butler-Bailey.  Sicilly stepped up to lead a massive and successful medical record destruction project which included documents that went as far back as the 1920s!  This earned her the title “Queen of Destruction”  During the project, Sicilly was always willing to learn and happy to share her knowledge with others in a manner that built the confidence of all team members.  Additionally, Sicilly is known to go above and beyond by covering open shifts or taking on additional work while maintaining a high level of productivity and high-quality work.

  • Kimberly Stevenson

    Core Finance

    Kimberly Stevenson is also a member of the Core Finance Division.  She was nominated by her supervisor Tesha Garcia-Taylor.  Kimberly possess a superpower of taking complex things and putting them together in a meaningful manner.  She’s capable of being pulled into any project and with limited instruction, produce quality, timely and impactful work.  If there’s a creative way to improve her team’s output, she will seek it out.  Most recently, she implemented creative changes using REDCap and Power BI.  Her supervisor noted she frequently receives “Kimberly” compliments from Administrators across VUMC who have benefitted from collaborating with her.
