Fall 2021 Above & Beyond Recipients

  • CHIM (Center for Healthcare Information management) 

    Amy Stremming is a member of the CHIM division. She was nominated by several of her colleagues and supervisors. Among this list is Sandra Funderburk, Stephanie Hays, Amy Weller, Teresa Strength, Heather Overall, Gwendolyn Chaney, and Tracey Wezet.  Amy is known amongst her colleagues as the first to volunteer when a team member is out sick, or their work assignments need coverage.  She is the ultimate team player who shares her wealth of knowledge and experience with the many new hires she helps train and onboard.  Amy’s work displays the elements of a committed and hardworking employee whose ultimate goal is to serve our Patients and Providers.  She leads by example, and everyone looks up to her for her professionalism.  In times of uncertainty, she promotes positivity with her Monday Motivational Readings.

    Core Finance 

    Amy Ivey is a member of the Core Finance division.  She was nominated by her supervisor, Tracie Grandy.  The efforts and work ethic Amy exudes are simply her. She is knowledgeable, enjoys learning and loves serving her team and customers. She always has a smile on her face whether in person or in her written communications. She truly takes others’ concerns to heart and helps wherever possible. Our team is often viewed as a one-stop shop. If Amy does not know the answer her customer has sent her way, she will find a way to point them in the right direction. Her customers are comfortable with her, rely on her, and enjoy engaging with Amy. These attributes are so valuable and truly help us accomplish all that we do. We cannot thank Amy enough for all that she does!

    Blaise is a member of the Core Finance division.  He was nominated by his colleague, Amanda Aven.  It’s not everyday that folks who provide data are formally recognized. Blaise is always so accommodating and helpful when collaborating cross-functionally by offering unmatched support for complex data requests.  Blaise turns requests around quickly and ensures project coverage prior to taking time off. His professionalism, willingness to help, and general kindness are truly appreciated.

    Core Finance 

    Keith is a member of the Core Finance division.  He was nominated by the Vice President of Revenue and Reimbursement, Angela Simmons.  Keith has demonstrated the Credo behavior by always maintaining a very professional, calm demeanor while handling very high-pressure analysis.  Keith keeps a cool head even though he has a very significant workload.  His technical skills are well-developed, and he can be trusted with the most complex work we have in Finance.  His commitment to VUMC and our team is so appreciated.

    Core Finance 

    Tia is a member of the Core Finance division.  She was nominated by her supervisor, Sarah Bettencourt. Tia first joined VUMC as a temporary employee filling a vacant role in the cashier’s office.  Tia was quickly promoted to Cashier Manager.  Over this short period of time, Tia has shined and transformed the Cashier’s Office to an open and welcoming area.  From assisting people with deposits, to posting payments, to becoming known as the “Cashier Therapist”, she will frequently go out of her way to ensure the job is done to its best ability. Employees around her have noted her wonderful energy within the office and her willingness to recognize opportunity for improvement.
