Program Qualifications
Applicants to the Vanderbilt Health Administrative Fellowship Program must be masters-level graduates from programs in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or Public Health.
Program Structure
Within the Vanderbilt Health Administrative Fellowship Program, the 2027-2029 cohort will host one Administrative Fellow.
The fellow will follow the See One, Do One, Lead One structure.
Application Timeline
Application Opens: July 1, 2026
Application Deadline: on or before 11:59 pm CST on August 18, 2026. Application requirements received after the deadline will not be considered.
Interviews: Late August - Mid-September
Offers Made: Late September
Fellowship Dates: July 1, 2027-June 30, 2029

Required Application Materials:
- Complete the online application: Administrative Fellow - Onsite Nashville TN
- Essay responses to the following prompts (500 words limit for each prompt-1500 words total):
- Pick 3 words to describe yourself and explain why you chose them.
- What are the 3-4 things that every health system CEO should have on his or her agenda?
- What is the most common mistake (pick one) healthcare leaders make? How could this mistake be avoided?
- Three signed recommendation letters (one from a faculty member from your graduate level academic discipline, one from professional/work experience, and one additional). *Please do not submit a cover letter.
- Unofficial Graduate School Transcript(s).
Please note:
- We do not sponsor international visas.
- Prior to starting the fellowship in July, interested applicants must have a master's degree from an accredited university or program.
- Recommendation letters can be addressed to: Admin Fellowship Selection Committee. If needed, recommenders may email the letter for you to the program recruiter, vumcadminfellowship@vumc.org
