Licensed Nurse Credentialing

Purpose of Licensed Nurse Credentialing Committee

The Licensed Nurse Credentialing Committee (LNCC) serves at the direction of the Executive Chief Nursing Officer to provide a mechanism for compliance with hospital policy, regulatory agencies and accreditation agencies for the practice of professional nursing at VUMC.

The committee credentials only licensed nurses. LNCC is the avenue for two distinct groups:

  • To assure that licensed nurses who are not employed by Vanderbilt and/or not covered by an agency statement of agreement or research contract meet essential criteria to practice nursing at Vanderbilt.

  • To provide the credentialing and privileging process to ensure that licensed nurses employed at Vanderbilt who wish to function in an expanded role, meet the essential criteria for that expanded role as defined by the TN Board of Nursing and the Medical Center.
