Dr. Zhao's research interest is in developing tools with statistical methods to solve problems in next generation sequencing data analysis. He has developed tools in Rna-Seq sample size estimation, DNA-Seq and RNA-Seq data quality control. He is also interested in different kinds of high-dimensional data researches, including transcriptomics, genomics, and proteomics data analysis and integrating.

Madeleine is a Data Specialist in the Surgical Outcomes Center for Kids at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is from Tulsa, OK and graduated from Vanderbilt University last year with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience and French. In her role at SOCKs, she performs data collection, management, and analysis for multiple specialties, including Neurosurgery and Urology.

Michelle Aebi is a Research Manager in the Department of Pediatric Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Experimental Psychology from Cleveland State University.

Prior to joining the SOCKs team, she was a Data and Regulatory Coordinator at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In her current position, she is responsible for creating a research infrastructure for the Pediatric Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery unit. 

Faculty Highlight: David P. Bichell, M.D.

David P. Bichell, M.D., is a Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Chief or Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. After obtaining his medical degree from Columbia University, he finished residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital as well as chief residencies in cardiac surgery at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. He then finished his fellowship in cardiac surgery at the Brigham & Women's Hospital.
