Dr. Tulipan is Professor of Neurological Surgery. He received his MD degree for The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.  Dr. Tulipan completed his internship training in Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD in 1981. He continued his residency training in Neurosurgery at that institution between 1981 and 1986. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons in 1989. His clinical focus is on all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery, with a special emphasis on congenital defects of the nervous system, hydrocephalus, craniofacial reconstruction, and surgery for spasticity. His research interests include application of endoscopic surgery to the in utero repair of congenital neurologic defects, prevention of infection in ventriculoperitoneal shunt patients, and effects of amniotic fluid on fetal spinal cord in vitro.
