Dimitrios Manias, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Dimitrios was born and raised in Greece and earned his BS in Biology from the University of Crete, Greece, and his MS in Molecular Biology from Umeå University, Sweden. For his doctoral studies, he joined the laboratory of Dr. Sampriti Mukherjee at the University of Chicago, where he studied how the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa senses light and regulates virulence. In the Skaar Lab, Dimitrios studies how the nosocomial pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii responds to host-mediated copper limitation and how copper homeostasis contributes to bacterial adaptation during infection.
