Dr. Azzazy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. From there, she attended Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN. After completing medical school, she returned to East Tennessee State University for her psychiatry residency where she served as chief resident prior to starting her geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Vanderbilt University.

Fellow Life:

Why VU?

It was evident when I interviewed here that the faculty were passionate about training well-informed geriatric psychiatrists. They even encouraged me to pursue research projects as I finished my fourth year of my general psychiatry residency.  As a result of faculty encouragement, I presented a poster at the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry annual meeting prior to starting my fellowship. The faculty are very supportive and encourage academic inquiry while focusing on patient care.

Career Goals

My goal is to continue providing mental health care to the geriatric patient population. I have enjoyed training at the Veteran's Health Administration, and hopeful to continue there as it is an environment that focuses on patient care while also allowing opportunities to pursue academic medicine as doctors in training often train there.
