Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network

Transforming the way healthcare is delivered across the Southeast

The Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (VHAN) is a collaborative alliance of physicians, health systems, and employers driving a new level of clinical innovation and teamwork to enhance patient care, contain costs and improve the health of communities in Tennessee and surrounding states.

Over the last six years, VUMC has been building VHAN to improve quality and lower the cost of care for everyone. Through its work with thousands of clinicians, hundreds of practices and dozens of hospitals comprised of adult and pediatric care, VHAN is strengthening communities by creating a sustainable, integrated healthcare ecosystem that consistently delivers high-value healthcare for patients across the state.

Better Care for You and Your Family

All of us at VUMC provide unmatched care either directly or indirectly to our patients every day, and in recognition of that commitment, you are provided with generous health benefits designed to remove barriers to getting and staying healthy. Clinicians who participate in VHAN are committed to collaborating and coordinating the care of their patients. Their network participation means they have enhanced access to data and resources to better support patients where they are in their journey to health.

When a provider commits to being part of VHAN, they agree to go the extra mile to ensure their patients receive the right care at the right time and in the right place, which results in better outcomes. Because of their commitment to do what's best for patients, insurance companies, like Aetna, also agree to fund incentives for VHAN providers to encourage them to keep up the good work and positive results for their patients.

When you choose to be cared for by a VHAN participating clinician, you can benefit from:

  • Enhanced focus and attention to your preventive health needs, from free cancer screenings to important tests to keep you healthy
  • Extra help navigating complicated diagnoses or difficult situations for you and your covered dependents
  • An expanded team of experts, like pharmacists, social workers and dietitians, working with your provider to support you when needed
  • A more personalized approach to meet you where you are and provide you with the right resources to help you be successful with your health
