I am dual board certified as an acute care and family nurse practitioner. I provide care for various neurodegenerative conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson’s Plus disorders, Huntington’s disease, and various types of dementia. My time is divided between clinical care and research. I also spend time performing procedures such as lumbar punctures and skin biopsies. My role is highly variable, which I greatly enjoy.

The biggest challenge I face is the nature of the diseases that I treat. Many of the conditions that I see are rare and do not have disease modifying treatments. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in cutting edge clinical trials, which offer patient’s hope when none is in sight.

We recently started a clinical trial for patients with Multiple System Atrophy. I was involved in the investigational phase of this trial and helped shape phase 2. These patients are near and dear to me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to bring research to them. Amy Wynn May

I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, our 2 dogs, going on hikes, and any opportunity to get outside. Hot yoga keeps me both mentally and physically in check and is something I couldn’t live without.
