The Learning Health System Scholars (LHSS) Program at Vanderbilt draws together Scholars and mentors across disciplines and model the team science integral to learning health systems. The LHSS program provides forums that demonstrate the intellectual productivity and practical benefits of interdisciplinary research in advancing human health.
The LHSS Program's Specific Aims are to:
- Create and implement a program for training early career faculty in learning health system science by integrating a tailored program of didactic training and mentored research in real-world settings across Vanderbilt, the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network, and the Mid-South Clinical Data Research Network.
- Provide a transdisciplinary curriculum that conveys competencies required for design, adaptation, implementation, evaluation, dissemination, and sustainment of interventions in diverse health care contexts.
- Foster interdisciplinary and trans-institutional mentorship from experienced patient outcomes researchers, implementation scientists, health policy mentors and methodologists to enable Scholars integrated learning to achieve their individualized development and career goals.
- Ensure a diverse, interdisciplinary perspective by including Scholars, faculty, and stakeholders from multiple and diverse disciplines, institutions, communities, and underrepresented groups.
- Evaluate program success using continuous quality improvement methods, process and outcome measures, and Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles to enhance the curriculum and overall program.
