Frequently Asked Questions

  • All participants, visitors, and staff are required to wear a mask.  Patients may remove their mask when alone in the room and are asked to re-mask when staff and visitors enter.  We screen every person entering the building for COVID symptoms and exposure.  Visitation is limited to reduce exposure.  VUH Adult CRC is limited to one guest and VCH Pediatric CRC is limited to one parent with a child participant and no guests with adult participants.  Our team frequently cleans and sanitizes our patient rooms and public areas.  

  • GPS address for Adult Clinical Research Center drop off is 2209 Garland Avenue, Nashville, TN 37232 at the Round Wing Patient Entrance of Medical Center North.  Once inside that entrance then go left to the CRC front desk.  If you need assistance inside, then call our CRC front desk to request assistance at 615-322-2312.  When you are ready to leave, we have available phone numbers for airport shuttle or other ride services.  

  • We encourage participant and family participation, however it is fine to be alone if you can safely travel alone.  You do not need someone in the room with you once you arrive.  Visitors are encouraged to leave when study activities are in progress, however may return at the end.  If the participant is a child, a family member is required to stay.  One visitor over the age of 18 can stay overnight with participants and a sleep chair is provided.  Participants will have meals provided and nearby dining facilities are available for guests.  Due to our current COVID safety measures, only one visitor is allowed with participants, and they must undergo COVID screening daily and wear a mask during their visit. 

  • Due to our current COVID safety measures, young children are not allowed. 

  • 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. one visitor is allowed with participants.  Please prepare visitors that due to our COVID safety measures, they will need to be screened at entry to our facility for symptoms and exposure as well as be expected to wear a mask during their visit.  

  • Please bring all home medications in their original bottles with a small supply and leave larger supplies at home.  There most likely will be down time during study days so please bring electronics, books, etc.  We have large screen TV's with HDMI capability for streaming media and most gaming stations. There are no laundry facilities available so please be prepared with comfortable loose fit clothing and nonskid sole shoes.  

  • All rooms are private with their own bathrooms; however, some bathrooms are not equipped with showers.  Alternative shower rooms are available. 

  • Yes there will be a landline in your Adult CRC patient room as well as cell phone access through most providers.  Please bring your own cell phone chargers as we do not have extra phone chargers. 

  • Yes. We have wireless internet in the patient rooms.

  • Your diet will depend on the protocol/procedure being done. It is not recommended to bring food for the participant, as the diets are often restricted.  If you have unusual dietary restrictions, please consult with the research team to ask about bringing your own foods.  We will have nutrition refrigerator storage available if the need arises, your study has specific diet needs, or your guests want to bring their own snacks.  

  • You will have limited control over room temperatures. Please bring clothing appropriate for both hot and cold temperatures.
