Then and Now: Diversity

Drs. Washington and Spottswood

Stephanie Spottswood, M.D., MSPH, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, grew up during the Civil Rights Movement and was one of the first underrepresented minority residents when she began her Vanderbilt Radiology residency in 1987. Eleby Washington IV, M.D., current second-year resident, studied sociology but his desire to impact the lives of others turned his focus to medicine, and eventually radiology.

Together, they share their experiences with mentorship, diversity and what motivates them, and they explore how things have changed over the last 30 years. Learn about their time at Vanderbilt Radiology.
