What to Expect

The first step in accessing services is to call 615-936-1327 and schedule a confidential appointment with a Work/Life Connections-EAP counselor.  The Administrative Assistant may ask you a few questions to help us match you to the best counselor.

During the first visit, you'll be asked to complete intake forms.  The Work/Life Connections-EAP counselor will explain the program.  You and the counselor will discuss your concerns.  At the end of the session, the counselor will schedule you with one of our Faculty and Physician Wellness Program (FPWP) psychiatric consultants. The initial session at usually requires an hour.

Following these meetings, the counselor and psychiatrist will make recommendations for appropriate next steps or additional resources to support you.  If the problem can be resolved within a few sessions, you may agree to continue to work with that counselor or consulting psychiatrist.  If it is determined that additional expertise or extensive treatment is needed, the counselor will give you three referrals for professionals or programs within the community who specialize in counseling specific to your needs.
