Vanderbilt Infant Global Health Program
Program Description
The Vanderbilt and INFANT Global Health Program in Argentina offers medical students with an experience in basic translational research, along with field experience through shadowing physicians in Argentina. The trainees participating in this 4-week program will cover the different steps involved in a translational science project, attending lectures, participating in site activities, visiting hospitals, and/or working in the lab.
The course includes a clinical rotation project, with clear observational objectives, which will be achieved through shadowing certified physicians in pediatric hospitals throughout Infant’s network. The hospitals may vary depending on the individual and group clinical projects
This program also provides trainees with the opportunity to participate in biomedical translational research in Argentina by embedding them into a team of local and U.S.-trained researchers and physicians studying the basic science and clinical effects of viruses that cause respiratory infections along with other viruses in infants, children, and adolescents.
After completing the program, the trainees are required to prepare a final reflective piece summarizing the international global health experience.
Program Fees
Due to the various times of year and ever changing market rates, the cost of the program will vary from year to year. There will be a one on one meeting to discuss the prices of flight, meals, housing, transportation, lab/hospital materials, Spanish lessons, and fun cultural outings.
