Carl Nathan presents at the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology

Dr. Carl Nathan presented at the Vanderbilt Institute of Chemical Biology's lecture series on Wednesday, October 7th on "Killing Persistent Mycobacterium tuberculosis". Dr. Nathan is the Chairman of Microbiology and Immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College and is interested in how macrophages kill, how killing is regulated and why killing is not always effective.

Andrea Cruz, M.D., presents on Pediatric Tuberculosis

Dr. Andrea Cruz presented on Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Research Conference Series on "Pediatric Tuberculosis: Closing Gaps in Diagnosis, Prevention, and Treatment". Dr. Cruz is the Research Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Eric Nuermberger presents Medicine Grand Rounds

Eric Nuermberger, M.D., presented the Des Prez Lecture at Medicine Grand Rounds at VUMC on Thursday, October 1st, 2015. Dr. Nuermberger is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. His primary research interests are in the experimental chemotherapy of tuberculosis. His work uses well-validated murine models of active TB and latent TB infection to evaluate the efficacy of promising new antimicrobials.

Vanderbilt TB Center hosts Dr. Jyothi Rengarajan from the Emory Vaccine Center

Jyothi Rengarajan, Ph.D., visited the Vanderbilt TB Center on August 17th to engage in collaborative discussions about her work at the Emory Vaccine Center. Dr. Rengarajan is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University and is an Emory Global Health Institute Distinguished Faculty awardee. Her research program centers on understanding the mechanisms of Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis and host immunity to infection.
