Dr. Charlene Dewey leads Physician Wellness retreat in Florida

Charlene M. Dewey, M.D., M.Ed., FACP was invited to speak on Physician Wellness at Memorial Healthcare Systems in Hollywood, Florida on April 13th. In the half-day retreat Dr. Dewey reviewed the evidence on physician wellness, stress, burnout and impairment and engaged participants in discussion and activities to create a wellness program for their healthcare system.

Art Dalley, PhD, honored at 2015 American Association of Anatomists

Art Dalley, Ph.D. and Lillian Nanney, Ph.D. attended the 2015 American Association for Clinical Anatomists where they held a reunion for the Educator-Scientists who formerly trained at Vanderbilt. He was there to receive the 2015 Henry Gray Distinguished Educator Medal from the American Association of Anatomists. Dr. Dalley delivered 2 oral presentations and was awarded Fellow Status in the American Association of Anatomists March 31st.  

Dr. Neil Osheroff elected to Board of Directors for IAMSE

Neil Osheroff, Ph.D. was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Medical Science Educators. He will begin his term in June during the annual meeting. For more information on the IAMSE, please click here>>.

VUSM Faculty attend Health Professional Educators conference in Australia

Neil Osheroff, Cathy Pettepher, and Kim Lomis all attended the 2015 joint conference of the Australia & New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators/Asian Medical Education Association in Newcastle, NSW, Australia (March 29-April 1, 2015). Conference link here>> As participants in the conference, Drs. Lomis, Pettepher, and Osheroff presented a 90 min workshop entitled: "Developing a Competency-Based Assessment Strategy for an Integrated Pre-Clerkship Science Curriculum."
