Charlene M. Dewey, M.D., M.Ed., FACP,  Associate Professor of Medical Education and Administration and Internal Medicine, Co-Director, Center for Professional Health, Chair, Faculty and Physician Wellness committee and Director of the Educator Development Core and the Educator Development Program; Office of Health Sciences Education, was a visiting professor in medical education at the Center for Professionalism in Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine on October 16, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She presented the following four sessions.

This program was developed to recognize AAMC member teaching hospitals and medical Schools that have successfully implemented programs to address clinical care innovations, including new delivery payment and training models, which integrate education and research to improve value and quality. Vanderbilt School of Medicine will be rewarded for his initiative titled Implementation of a Longitudinal Continuity Clinical Experience to Improve Quality, Safety and Patient Outcomes.

On January 18, 2014, Don Moore, PhD, professor of medical education and administration, director, office for continuous professional development, and director, UME curriculum evaluation, was interviewed as part of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (ACEHP) inaugural Exemplar Interview at the Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.  The ACEHP is the largest professional organization for individuals involved in the CEHP enterprise.

Congratulations to Consuelo H. Wilkins, M.D., Executive Director, Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance, and the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance team on being selected as one of the "Challenge Award Winners" of the Learning Health System Challenge and Planning Awards. Winners were selected by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The new Educator Development Core (or EDC) was developed in the summer of 2013 within the Office of Health Science Education under the leadership of Bonnie Miller, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education/Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs. The EDC team consists of Bonnie Miller, MD; Charlene M. Dewey, MD, MEd, FACP; Lillian Nanny, PhD; Rebecca Swan, MD; Leora Horn, MD, MSc, FRCPC; and Mary Ann Nichols, the team’s administrator and EDP program coordinator.

Charlene M. Dewey, M.D., M.Ed., F.A.C.P., has been named Director of the Educator Development Core (EDC) for the Office of Health Sciences Education. In this role she will oversee the development and implementation of programs that enhance the skills of all faculty members who teach in VUSM’s UME, GME and CME programs.
