The 12th Annual Geral S. Goetterer Health Professions Education Research Day (HPERD) - December 11, 2020

On December 11, 2020, VUSM and VUMC celebrated the 12th year of the Annual Gerald S. Gotterer Health Education Professionals Research Day (HPERD)!  This was the 1st Ever Virtual Program Organized by the Office of Health Sciences Education through the Educator Development Program and the Office for Continuous Professional Development, the goal of HPERD is to provide an opportunity for all members of the education community to display their progress and success in health professions education innovation.

Since 2009, this event has been held each year to showcase education research in the health professions ongoing in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center community. Organized by the Office of Health Sciences Education through the Educator Development Program and the Office for Continuous Professional Development the goal of HPERD is to provide an opportunity for all members of the education community to display their progress and success in health professions education innovation. This year the event was held in conjunction with Thomas A. Hazinski Faculty Development Workshop.

ACGME Honors Vanderbilt University Medical Center with 2nd Annual DeWitt C. ‘Bud’ Baldwin Award

School of Medicine’s newest teaching award honors Nanney

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) recently established the Academy for Excellence in Education Lillian B. Nanney Award for Outstanding Service to the VUSM/Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Community of Educators.

Dewey Elected to Lead Faculty Senate

Congratulations to Charlene M. Dewey, M.D., M.Ed., FACP, Associate Professor, Assistant Dean for Educator Development, Director of the Educator Development Core and Educator Development Program, Co-Director of the Center for Professional Health, and Chair of the Faculty Physician Wellness Committee, on her newly elected position as Vanderbilt University Faculty Senate Chair. As Chair of the Faculty Senate, Dr. Dewey will oversee the work of The Senate which is the representative and deliberative body of the Faculties.
