Application Process (Required Documents & Steps to Apply): Vanderbilt Undergraduate (Non-Medical)/Post Graduate, & Non-Vanderbilt Adults (18+)

Applications must be received at least 30 days before the anticipated observation experience date unless a preceptor has pre-approved prior arrangements. 
 

Observation confirmations may take longer than 30 days to confirm.  If observation requests cannot be fulfilled, the applicant will be notified by email.

Please note:  As part of the VOE Application Process, Non-Vanderbilt Staff Members 18+ and older must comply to a background check.  The minimum cost of this to VOE Applicant is $36.25 or higher depending on county or state jurisdiction.

Steps to Apply:

Complete the Vanderbilt Observational Experience online application ( → ), including a background check agreement.

The following documents in a jpg or pdf format will need to be uploaded with the application:
1.  Health Insurance Card
2.  Completed Health Summary Form
3.  Signed Confidentiality Agreement
4.  Completed Safety Quiz with a
     passing score of 100%

Next Steps after Application is Received:

Application approval status will be emailed approximately one week before the requested observation date.
If the requested observation or preceptor cannot be fulfilled, additional options may be provided to the applicant.

For non-Vanderbilt Staff Members 18+, instructions to submit a background check will be 
provided only upon application approval. The applicant is responsible for the background check 
application fee (minimum $36.25).

 

 

If the applicant is approved to participate in the Vanderbilt Observational Experience, observation details, including meeting location 
and contact information, will be provided.
