Sarah C.

Where do you work and how long have you worked there?
I have been working on 7 Round Wing for two years. We mainly care for the geriatric population.

Why did you choose to be a Nurse Wellness Commodore?
I enjoy getting to help those around me, especially fellow nurses! Getting to use what I know about health and wellness to empower my fellow co-workers makes going to work that much better.

Name one thing you have done to inspire nurse wellness on your unit.
From the small, climbing the stairs instead of the elevator, to the encouraging nurses to be a part of the NAMI walk/run. I enjoy getting to push people to be the best they can be. During Nurses Week, I also made a wellness day which involved aromatherapy, hand scrubs, giveaways, and healthy eating.

What inspires you?
Nature, food and other creative people who push you to think differently.

What is your favorite 90’s jam?
That’s a hard one! I like anything from Jawbreaker to Salt-N-Pepa to Destiny’s Child.

Favorite movie?
It hasn’t won any awards but I have and always will love The Aristocats.

What favorite foods put you in a good mood?
My mom is a wonderful cook so anything she makes puts me in a good mood. My favorite is a simple dish. I always have her make it when it’s cold out - chili with cornbread on top.

What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Kayaking

What was the best vacation you ever had?
When I was younger my family went on a vacation out west. We drove through Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana. I enjoyed getting to see landscapes unlike the Kentucky area I was used to.

What is one thing you would put on your bucket list?
Explore Japan!

What do you have planned to help put some fun into the Epic transition?
We are hoping to have a pot luck, have the aromatherapy going in the breakroom and have some other fun days to help everyone destress.
