Radiation Oncology

I will be joining the laboratory in January 2018 with the intent of investigating the role of oxidative stress in driving metabolic changes in non-cancerous cells that foster tumorigenesis.  This work will examine radiation-induced metabolic reprogramming in airway epithelial cells including overexpression of xCT, a key transporter in regulating the intracellular cysteine pool.  The impact of elevated xCT on DNA damage response pathways will also be evaluated, furthering our understanding of the interplay between metabolism and genomic instability.
