Blocks

Blocks are pieces of content that can be placed on any page(s) in specific regions. You can choose from several types of blocks.

To create or edit a block, select Blocks from the black administrative toolbar. You’ll see a list of your current blocks. Select Edit Block to make changes or select Add Block to create a new one. To place a block, edit the page where the block is to be placed and look for the Blocks section in the right sidebar. This area will also allow you to reorder blocks by drag and drop.

RSS Reader Display posts from an RSS feed.

Recent Blog Posts Display recent blog posts.

Slideshow Block Display a slideshow of images. The slideshow block will appear differently depending on the region you select and each region has different settings.

Featured Region This area appears above any other content on your page, even the title of the page. It’s best used for the homepage. You can choose the Classic slideshow with the sidebar for mission and captions or the Full Width slideshow.

Sidebar Region This area appears in the right sidebar. Your slideshow will show as rotating images with no thumbnail navigation. Make sure you use very short captions here.

Content Region This area appears below the content on your page. You can choose Image Gallery to show thumbnail navigation or Rotating Image with no thumbnail navigation. It is not recommended to use the Image Gallery setting if you have a lot of photos as it will cause your page to load slower.

Tag List / Cloud Block An automatically generated list of the tags from a selected Blog.

Text Block A customizable block of text.

Vanderbilt Calendar Events Pull events tagged with specific tags from the Vanderbilt Events Calendar (http://events.vanderbilt.edu). You can submit your own events to the calendar and request specific tags using their submission form located at https://events.vanderbilt.edu/index.php?com=submit.
