Hannah Itell is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Georgiev lab. She received her B.S. in Biology from Davidson College in 2016 and then worked as a research technician in the labs of Dr. Sallie Permar and Dr. Genevieve Fouda at the Duke Human Vaccine Institute. Hannah performed her graduate work in Dr. Julie Overbaugh’s lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington in 2023. During her graduate studies, Hannah studied host proteins that inhibit HIV-1 within the main target cells of infection, primary CD4+ T cells, using CRISPR-KO approaches. Outside of lab, Hannah enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants, and horseback riding.
