The Vanderbilt Health Coaching Certificate Program is designed for licensed health care professionals who wish to either practice as independent health coaches, or who wish to add health coaching skills to their current role to better enable their patients to self-manage their health and optimize wellness.
The program is divided into two phases; the first phase includes an intensive 8 month educational program with over 26 online learning modules, two 3-day weekend in-person intensives, weekly practice calls with peers, group skills calls, and a personal change project. Referred to as practicum, the second phase allows the trainee to practice their new skills with medical patients while receiving ongoing mentorship. Successful completion of the program leaves participants eligible to sit for the national certification exam.
Why choose Vanderbilt Health Coaching Certificate Program?
The program is designed for working individuals and can be completed from anywhere.
Our course is offered in a modified distance format. The majority of learning can be completed online, at whatever time is most convenient for you. Even the weekly practice calls, which include two other trainees, can be set at a mutually agreeable time. In addition, the group skills calls and group mentorship calls are offered at two different times so you can choose the one that works with your schedule well in advance. The dates and times of the two 3-day in-person intensives are available now, and are not flexible. They are arranged to occur Friday-Sunday, however, allowing you to take minimal time away from work and home.
The cost of the program compared with the comprehensive training provided makes the Vanderbilt Health Coaching Certificate Program a great value.
- The total cost of our course is $6200, which is significantly lower than many other programs when you consider how comprehensive it is. Additionally, we offer group discounts and early registration discounts for those paying the full amount upfront.
- We also offer payment plans for individuals looking to spread the total cost over several months.
- Furthermore, the Vanderbilt Health Coaching Certificate Program includes one of the most comprehensive curriculums, covering everything from the Foundational and Advanced Health Coaching Skills and Tools, Mindfulness Training, and Positive Psychology, to Behavior Change Theory and Application, and Motivational Interviewing.
- We also provide the opportunity to coach real medical patients while receiving mentorship.
