Allison McCoy, PhD, ACHIP, FACMI, FAMIA

Allison B. McCoy, PhD, ACHIP, FACMI, FAMIA, is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics in the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University, Director of the Vanderbilt Clinical Informatics Core, and Clinical Director in HealthIT. Her work focuses on applied clinical informatics and the translation of informatics innovations into real-world clinical practice. Through her research, partnerships with VUMC operational health information technology teams, and collaborations with investigators through the Clinical Informatics Core, she develops, implements, and evaluates AI-enabled tools, predictive models, clinical decision support, and other EHR-based interventions at the point of care. Her research focuses particularly on translating these technologies into clinical use and understanding how they perform after implementation, including their integration into clinical workflows, use by clinicians, effectiveness, and impact on healthcare quality and safety. Through multi-institutional collaborations, she also develops and evaluates generalizable approaches for implementing, monitoring, and improving clinical AI, predictive models, and decision support across diverse healthcare organizations.

Dr. McCoy received her MS and PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston. She also worked as an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston and in the Department of Global Biostatistics and Data Science at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine before returning to Vanderbilt.
