Fatima Nawaz, MPH, PhD

Dr. Nawaz received her BA at the University of Colorado in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology with research focused on drug-resistant malaria parasites across large geographic regions of Tanzania.  She went on to the University of CA Berkeley for a Master’s degree in Public Health, with continued work on malaria in both Kenya and Uganda.  Her interest in infectious diseases continued in her Ph.D. at New York University where her thesis studies focused on HIV pathogenesis and cell entry.  All of her dissertation research was carried out at the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.  When not in the lab Dr. Nawaz most enjoys the local hiking trails with her partner and two young children.
