My research focuses on mechanisms of pulmonary vascular disease and right ventricular failure.

I have developed a translational research program focused on the metabolic and hemodynamic determinants of pulmonary vascular disease and right heart failure.  Our work broadly focuses on:

  1. the role of metabolic disease in the promotion of pulmonary hypertension,
  2. molecular profiling of pulmonary hypertension phenotypes, and
  3. development and application of non-invasive imaging techniques assessing right ventricular metabolism and function.

We also study the relationship between systemic and muscle metabolism in obesity and therapies to improve metabolic fitness.  In each of these areas we leverage the full complement of research capacity including experimental models, human clinical trials, and large institutional databases.
