Larissa Otero, MD, MPH receives K43 Emerging Global Leader Award, first investigator to receive the award in Latin America

Larissa Otero, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor and investigator at partner institution Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and Instituto de Medicina Tropical Alexander von Humboldt (IMTAvH), in Lima, Peru. Dr. Otero was recently awarded the K43 Emerging Global Leader award from the Fogarty International Center (FIC) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Her grant is titled, "Patient-centered intervention to prevent tuberculosis among children < 5 years old". Dr. Timothy Sterling will serve as one of Dr. Otero's mentors for this project.

Dr. Otero is the first investigator in Latin America, and the first outside of Africa and Asia, to receive this award! A huge congratulations to Dr. Otero and we wish you the best accomplishing this project!
