Andrew Pregnall

Intern, Program for LGBTQ Health (Summer 2018)

Andrew Pregnall is senior at Virginia Tech pursuing a dual degree in Microbiology and History. Andrew's passion for LGBTQ healthcare began when he was awarded a Fralin Undergraduate Research Fellowship to investigate how policies at the student health center affected LGBTQ students' access to needed healthcare services. As a result of his research, Andrew now has an interest in understanding how institutional and governmental policies affect the health and wellness of LGBTQ people. When not attending classes, Andrew is active in the Honors College, serving as both a Residential Advisor in the Honors Residential Commons and the Representative for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences on the Honors College Student Council. In addition, Andrew is an active advocate for LGBTQ students at Virginia Tech, using his research to advocate for changes to the student health center and his position as an RA to advocate for a queer and trans Living Learning Community. After graduating from Virginia Tech, Andrew plans to attend medical school where he can continue advocating for better LGBTQ healthcare.
