2018 Southern LGBTQ Health Symposium Announced

The inaugural Southern LGBTQ Health Symposium administered by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Program for lgbtq Health has been announced for March 3, 2018 at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (Light Hall) in Nashville, TN. Topics includes: HIV & PReP, Policies and Practices for LGBT Health Programs, Gender Confirmation Surgery, and Developing Community Partnerships.

Community Advisory Board Applications Available Through Dec. 31

Lend your voice and expertise to the Vanderbilt Program for lgbtq Health's new Community Advisory Board. We are seeking 12-15 individuals who can serve two-year appointments and help us ensure the highest level of patient care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center by providing guidance on clinical services, community outreach, patient experience, and policy. Board members must be able to meet quarterly and represent the program at special events throughout the year. We are looking for diverse candidates who represent the entire LGBTQI community.

LGBT-Focused Employee Resource Groups

The Vanderbilt Program for lgbtq Health seeks to create two new employee resource groups for sexual and gender minority employees at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  An employee resource group (ERG) is a voluntary, employee-led group that fosters a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with organizational mission, values, goals, business practices and objectives. One group will focus on LGBTQI employees, while the second one will focus specifically on transgender employees. 

Trans Buddy Volunteer Training Set for June 17

Want to become a Trans Buddy volunteer and increase access to care and improve healthcare outcomes for transgender people by providing emotional support to transgender patients during healthcare visits? lgbtq Health hosts 'Dining Out for Life' at Provence

Join the Vanderbilt Program for lgbtq Health for lunch (any time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) on Tuesday, April 18 as we host Dining Out for Life at Provence Breads and Cafe in Hillsboro Village to raise money for Nashville CARES, the premier agency in Middle Tennessee helping people with HIV/AIDS.

Trans Buddy Named Strobel Award Finalist

We're very excited that Trans Buddy volunteers are being recognized for their compassion and commitment! The Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards recognize Middle Tennessee volunteers who give their time and talents to improve the community. In its 31st year, the awards ceremony are Middle Tennessee's largest annual celebration of volunteerism.
