Tatiana Nogueira Peredo, PhD

Assistant Professor
Hearing and Speech Sciences

Dr. Peredo is a two-time U.S. Fulbright Scholar, selected for Fulbright Brazil in 2022 and Fulbright Chile in 2026. Dr. Peredo’s research focuses on early childhood development, parenting, bilingual language development, and culturally and linguistically responsive intervention. Her work centers on supporting families of young children with and at risk for language delays and those with developmental disabilities, with particular attention to Spanish-speaking Latino families, bilingual children, children with developmental language disorder, autism, and children with cleft lip and palate. Across her research, she examines how caregivers can be supported to use responsive, naturalistic strategies that promote children’s communication, early literacy, social-emotional development, and school readiness. A major focus of Dr. Peredo’s research is the development and testing of caregiver-implemented early language and literacy interventions. She has led and collaborated on federally and institutionally funded projects focused on early communication intervention, culturally and linguistically adapted assessment and intervention, and parent coaching in the United States and Latin America. Her international work includes caregiver-implemented speech and language intervention for young children with cleft palate in Brazil and early book-sharing research to support literacy foundations for young children in Chile. Dr. Peredo earned her Ph.D. in Psychological Sciences with a concentration in Developmental Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas, her M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Vanderbilt University, and her B.S. in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University.
