Sharon joined VUMC’s Office of Legal Affairs in May 2023, and brings over 30 years of paralegal experience in litigation with a focus on defending medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, and government investigations.  In her role in OLA, Sharon’s work includes managing discovery and e-discovery processes, workers compensation matters and third-party requests for information.

Sharon received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mississippi and received her paralegal certification from The National Center for Paralegal Studies in Atlanta, Georgia.

Renee Morris

Renee joined VUMC in March 2015 in the Office of Contracts Management (OCM), with over eight years of previous contract experience in health care staffing. During her six years in OCM, she assisted VUMC’s research enterprise with Federal research subawards, affiliation agreements, data use agreements, and professional services agreements. Renee joined the Office of Legal Affairs in July 2021.

Renee’s role with the Office of Legal Affairs involves assisting VUMC’s attorneys in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts primarily in the Pharmacy, Procurement, and Research areas.  Renee also assists through project management in the areas of GDPR compliance and acquisitions.

Renee earned her Bachelor’s degree in Family Life Education from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University, and her paralegal certification with honors from Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Camille Steward, Division Counsel, provides legal support for labor and employment matters involving statutory interpretation, employee relations, disability, and religious accommodations, medical leave, drug screening, background checks, labor relations and bargaining, and other workplace issues.  She also advises VUMC on the legal implications of proposed policies and actions, employment-related contracts, and counsels VUMC as to compliance with Federal and State law and administrative regulations.  She works regularly with outside counsel to defend employment lawsuits filed against VUMC. She will also provide support with Title IX compliance and VUMC Center for Programs in Allied Health.

Most recently Camille was the inhouse attorney with Nashville Electric Service and the interim staffing & employment relations manager.  She previously practiced at Miller and Martin PLLC where she was a member of on the Labor and Employment Practice Group and served as a law clerk for the Honorable William J. Haynes, Jr., U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee. 

Camille earned her Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law where she was a member of the Tennessee Law Review and her undergraduate degree from the historic Fisk University.  Camille is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and California.

Terry Prewitt

Terry comes to VUMC after working at Vanderbilt University for over 25 years. While at VU, she worked in Internal Audit and later joined the Office of Conflict of Interest and Commitment Management (OCOICM) in the Office of General Counsel as a Program Coordinator. Terry became Database Administrator in the Office of Risk Management/Protection of Minors in 2016. 

Terry has extensive experience in database management and day-to-day program operations.  While in Internal Audit, she created and managed the in-house timekeeping system, was the administrator for Internal Audit’s server and later worked in the institutional risk audit tracking system. In addition to program administration in the OCOICM, she was involved with the separation of the Conflict of Interest Disclosure System database as well as the Office of General Counsel outside legal billing system during the transition separating VU and VUMC.   She also worked with the Conflict Disclosure System interface transition from PeopleSoft to Oracle.  In the Office of Risk Management, she managed the iVOS claim reporting and Veritas incident reporting systems in addition to the Protection of Minors application and worked closely with the Business Intelligence Oracle reporting team to convert POM reporting to Oracle-based Business Intelligence. 

Terry received her Bachelor of Arts in English from David Lipscomb University. 

Terry’s current work as a Compliance Data Analyst also includes compiling data for the Protection of Minors Program.

Bob Rowland serves as Division Counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where his practice focuses on healthcare transactional and regulatory matters. This includes joint ventures and other strategic affiliations, development of new business lines, professional services agreements, general corporate governance issues, advising VUMC’s subsidiary companies, physician practice acquisitions, licensure and certificate of need considerations, and analysis of contracts for compliance with applicable healthcare laws. 

Prior to joining VUMC, Bob served as in-house counsel at Community Health Systems, LifePoint Health, and Poudre Valley Health System (now affiliated with the University of Colorado Health).  He also practiced law at Buerger, Moseley & Carson in Franklin, Tennessee and Caplan & Earnest in Boulder, Colorado.  Bob graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law.  Bob is licensed as an attorney in Tennessee and Colorado and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
